Trinny and Susannah, The Short Goodbye Part 3

Susannah retreats to the countryside and the reassuring company of her nanny/therapist Gemma as she prepares for the dinner party. En route, Trinny gets caught for speeding but still makes it in time to get Susannah and her dinner party into shape.

I didn't think my day could get much worse until I got pulled over by the police on the way to Susannah's. I was in a mad rush because we had a huge dinner party planned and I just knew that dinner wasn't going to ready when people arrived. It never is.

It's funny how Susannah relies on other people. She doesn't really know how to cook but pretends to know and somehow waits for someone else to sort it out. I do sometimes feel that she's my second child. Not that I mind, I always wanted a second child so it's actually quite nice. I suppose I thrive on being needed to sort things out. On a day like this, filled with emotional demands, it's much easier to deal with if I have to go into some sort of action plan. So sorting out Susannah's hair, make up and dinner somehow made it easier. I don't have to think about what is actually a rather dire situation.
