New Female Owners Take on “Unique” Hotel

One of the most distinctive hotels in the North West of England has earned a whole new lease of life under new owners, Janet Sutton & Margaret Lofthouse.

New Female Owners Take on “Unique” Hotel

The Avenue Hotel in Brockhall Village, near Clitheroe, Lancashire, has managed to make both a virtue and a business challenge out of its unique location and unusual construction.

It has a modern and "boutique" style, similar to a growing number of city centre hotels, but it is in the heart of the Ribble Valley's lush countryside.  It is friendly and very personal, yet thanks to the fact it is adjacent to Blackburn Rovers' security-conscious senior training ground, it is also highly secure and discrete. It was just this eclectic mix of descriptions that drew co-owners Janet Sutton and Margaret Lofthouse to take over The Avenue Hotel. Janet explained: "I live in the village of Brockhall, so no one needed to tell me how gorgeous the setting is.

But what attracted me to the idea of owning and running The Avenue is how different it is from all the other hotels in region."It manages to be off the beaten track, yet a very lively place thanks to the fact it is located on this beautiful gated village.

"Co-owner Margaret Lofthouse, who lives in nearby Billington, said: "Our challenge is to improve The Avenue and get it better known nationally, without spoiling its uniqueness. We are offering similar room rates to the big national chains but The Avenue is certainly one of a kind! We can cater to the needs of a wide range of guests for any occasions, business and pleasure and everything in between.

"It has a busy conference centre next door, yet has some of the Ribble Valley's beautiful old villages and market towns just a stones throw away.

"Janet, a former PA, Carer and Sales Trainer, added: "The Avenue is relatively new, stylish and smart, but it is fast earning a reputation for being a really warm and friendly place. We have a lot of returning guests, not only from the football club and Stoneyhurst College, but also from fishing trips and walking weekends. "

To celebrate the new ownership of The Avenue, anyone booking a room in June and July, can enjoy complimentary bottle of wine, if they mention this news article when booking. For details and bookings visit the website Avenue Hotel
