Those close to home are said to influence a person the most and teenage years are the most malleable of all. Well, the person who has impacted my view and aims of life is close to home and close to my heart, despite living 200 miles away.

Kimberley Ward may be my sister but she is also the person I aspire to be like. She may be only five years ahead of me but those long months of self discovery and understanding have allowed me to identify what I want out of life and have aided me into achieving this. In a way she has done all the hard work and I am just learning from both of our mistakes and following her lead.

Despite being one of the world's most indecisive people when it comes to a choice of occupation, Kimberley has now decided what she wants to be and I believe there has never been anything that suited her more perfectly: an events organiser. Whilst all those miles away studying towards a degree in Business at Lancaster University, my sister has taken part in numerous events, such as a female football league and "Enterprise In Heels" along with a variation of other entrepreneurial proceedings, many focusing specifically on a woman's world of work.

I especially like the fact that she is playing an important part in the "City Hearts Fashion Show" to be held at Sheffield City Hall in June in aid of a charity which bases itself on helping young girls. I think there is not a better example of how a woman can succeed in the world of work and make a difference whilst doing so. Her continuous effort to help other people and ability to aspire beyond the limits life has placed on her truly amazes me.

Although she may have done these amazing things, it is her effect on me that I appreciate the most. From the lessons she has learned the hard way and guided me through, to the fact that she taught me to read and do mathematics, everything she has done has inspired me to be a better person, aim as high as I can and believe in myself by showing that someone like us can do something amazing in the world of women's work.
