Celia Pontin

I am originally from Yorkshire, but spent the last 20 years living in and around London and recently relocated to the county of Lincolnshire.

Celia Pontin

I worked in various disciplines as a Personal Assistant, but gave up working to look after my son Joel.  Five years on and with Joel starting full time education I contemplated my future and with drive and determination began my journey to establish my canvas business.

Loathe to part with any of Joel's precious childish artwork but realising that I was rapidly running out of fridge and wall space I considered how to retain a ‘snapshot' of his artistic development thus allowing me to part with the originals but still preserve the memory.

With that in mind I created a basic montage of some of his and my favourite artwork but felt there was still more that could be done which is when I developed the idea of scanning original images, blending them all so that one image gently becomes a part of another to produce one composite image printed onto canvas. Early attempts brought forth praise from family and friends and I was inspired to consider further how I could improve upon my ‘montages' and worked hard at developing techniques and improving my artistic abilities.

As my confidence grew I believed I could turn my hobby into a thriving business and now create montages of not only children's artwork but from a whole range of images, namely wedding photography, holidays, sporting events, pets and so on. It's a wonderful way to present several images as one stunning composite image with flow and movement in a creative and original style on top quality cotton canvas uplifting home and office walls not to mention creating a real talking point!

In these current troubled times what I am most energised by is the fact that what I produce can only bring forth smiles of pleasure. The product has a true feel good factor and I decided upon the name of The Celebration CanvasTM to emphasise the fact that so many things in life are worth celebrating, life as seen through the eyes of a child and interpreted in their art, to those magical days of milestone birthdays, weddings, graduations, sporting achievements, the list is endless and of course not forgetting my Guest Book CanvasTM a canvas that I produce ideal for those memorable events for example weddings, whereby I reproduce the comments in the guest book and transfer  them onto canvas against the backdrop of a favourite image taken on the day. This is a unique way to preserve and display those many wonderful words that so often get hidden away in a drawer!
